The Raiders released Ruggs hours before his first court appearance on felony charges of driving under the influence resulting in death and reckless driving. Cops said Ruggs was driving his Corvette at 156mph before colliding with the victim's Toyota RAV4 at 127mph at 3:40am on Tuesday in Las Vegas (bottom inset). The Toyota burst into flames, killing the driver, Tina Tintor, and her dog. Ruggs could face up to 46 years in prison if he's convicted on all counts. 'This is the Duchess of Sussex': Meghan Markle is now cold calling Republican Senators on their private numbers and using her royal title to lobby for paid paternity leave: Wants to be part of a 'working group' to formulate policy
Meghan Markle called two Republican senators to urge them to vote in favor of paid parental leave, it emerged on Wednesday - shocking the politicians with her latest foray into political activism. The move is just the beginning for the Los Angeles-born mother of two, as she is now hoping to be part of 'a working group to work on paid leave long term,' according to Senator Kirsten Gillibrand. She called Republican Sens. Susan Collins from Maine Shelley Moore Capito from West Virginia, both of whom said they were shocked that Markle called out of the blue and noted that she even used her royal title to lobby for the cause. And it comes after she wrote a letter to the top Democrats directly lobbying them on the issue, and then buying gift cards for Starbucks for workers at an activism group in a high-profile stunt designed to raise awareness of the cause.
Gov. Phil Murphy narrowly wins reelection in NJ after Republican surge took vote to the wire: Becomes the first Democrat in more than 40 years to win second term in the Garden State
The New Jersey gubernatorial race was officially called for Democrat Phil Murphy Wednesday evening after the contest was deemed too close to call nearly 24 hours after polls closed. Murphy won by a razor-thin margin – 50 per cent to 49.2 per cent – in a state expected to be a landslide for President Joe Biden's party. With the victory, the incumbent governor became the first Democrat to win a gubernatorial reelection in New Jersey in more than 40 years. Republican candidate Jack Ciattarelli protested the call with a retweet from a post made by his communications director. 'With the candidates separated by a fraction of a percent out of 2.4 million ballots cast, it's irresponsible of the media to make this call when the New Jersey Secretary of State doesn't even know how many ballots are left to be counted,' Stami Williams tweeted Wednesday after the AP called the election for Murphy. Murphy led Ciattarelli, a former New Jersey State lawmakers, by more than 16,000 votes Wednesday afternoon when 11 per cent of counties had yet to report, pulling out a wider lead thanks to returns from heavily-blue Mercer County, where the state capital of Trenton is located. Some have speculated the election could come down to a recount. Unlike some places, New Jersey does not have any minimum requirements or guidelines for an automatic recount. A candidate or group of at least 10 voters can petition a Superior Court judge for a recount up to 17 days after the election. The race has also been plagued by counting issues that led to vote tallies being doubled in one county and election workers accidentally locking machines in others.

University of North Carolina paid 1619 Project's Nikole Hannah-Jones $16,670 to speak for 40 MINUTES and do a 15-minute Q&A: UNC says money came from 'donor-supported fund'
Nikole Hannah-Jones on Tuesday night addressed staff and students as part of the university's Writers' Week - earning almost $17,000 for her time. The fee was paid by private donors, the university said. Yet critics said that the cost was equivalent to two years' tuition for in-state students, and would have been better spent on a scholarship. Hannah-Jones was in talks to accept a teaching job at the university, but, under pressure, they withdrew the offer of tenure. She turned them down and in July accepted an alternative job at Howard University.
Excuses, excuses! Biden bizarrely blames TRUMP, 'very conservative folk' and people 'upset about COVID and the price of gasoline' for Dems' catastrophic defeat in Virginia governor race and pins all his hopes on Build Back Better package
Joe Biden blamed on Wednesday Donald Trump's supporters for the crushing defeat of Democrat Terry McAuliffe in Virginia's gubernatorial race, suggesting if his agenda passed before Election Day that the results may have been different. 'I think it should have passed before Election Day, but I'm not sure that I would be able to have changed the number of very conservative folks who turned out and the red districts who were Trump voters. But maybe,' the president said during a White House event on Wednesday. When asked if Democrats should have won in Virginia considering Biden won it by 10 points in 2020, the president said: 'I know we did, but we also - I was running against Donald Trump.'
'We come across as annoying, offensive and out of touch': CNN's Van Jones says Democrats live in an 'echo chamber' and need to change in wake of GOP shellacking
Political commentator Van Jones (left) dragged Democrats for living in their own 'echo chamber' and said that they get in their own way of winning voters by coming across in ways that are 'annoying and offensive and seem out of touch.' Jones, a former Obama administration official, appeared on CNN on election night as it became clear that Republican Glenn Youngkin would best Democrat Terry McAuliffe (right) as governor of Virginia and Republican Jack Ciattarelli was ahead of Incumbent Phil Murphy in the polls in New Jersey's gubernatorial race.

Toy Story actor Tom Hanks, 65, wasn't too impressed with billionaire Amazon CEO Jeff Bezo's $28million offer to go to space on Blue Origin's second all-civilian flight. The actor told late-night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel, 53, that he was 'good' and wasn't going to pay '28million bucks for something like that.' Bezos became a part of the first all-civilian, unpiloted crew in July and launched a second flight in mid-October. Hanks was replaced with Star Trek's William Shatner, 90, who became the oldest person to go to space. He reportedly did not pay to go to space.
'It's garbage': Biden DENIES report he's giving $450,000 to migrants separated at the border under Trump
President Joe Biden was confronted by a Fox News reporter about the claim that his administration will give migrant families who entered the country illegally up to $1 million on Wednesday. Fox had asked Biden if the reported payments 'might incentivize more people to come over illegally.' Biden replied, 'If you guys keep sending that garbage out, yeah.' The lump sums have been put forward as a way for the U.S. Justice Department to settle lawsuits with migrants who say the policy caused them lasting psychological damage.
Newsmax White House correspondent is suspended from Twitter after claiming COVID vaccines have satanic trackers called Luciferase and told her followers to read the New Testament to 'see how it ends'
Newsmax's Emerald Robinson's Twitter has been suspended after she tweeted the Moderna vaccine contained Luciferase and allowed it to track people. Despite its misleading name, Luciferase has nothing to do with the biblical devil. It is a bioluminescence marker that is in a class of enzymes that can produce light in a chemical reaction. She also prompted her fellow 'Christians' to read the New Testament to 'see how it ends.' She is referring to the Book of Revelations, which details the prophet John seeing visions of the apocalypse. Newsmax has since issued a statement distancing itself from Robinson's false claims.

'She knows where the bones are buried': Ex-husband of missing accountant Heidi Planck claims her boss - under investigation for $43M fraud - had accused her of 'siphoning money'
The ex-husband of missing LA bookkeeper Heidi Planck (both seen left) has claimed her investment firm boss, who is being investigated for fraud, didn't appear 'too concerned' for her after she disappeared and seemed more worried about recovering her work laptop instead. James Wayne told DailyMail.com he believes 'the answer to Heidi's whereabouts lies with her boss, Jason Sugarman, and his company.' The 39-year-old California mom has not been seen since she left her son's football game with her dog, Seven, in Downey, Los Angeles, on October 17. Wayne said he suspects foul play is involved in his ex-wife's disappearance and that her job at an investment firm is somehow connected. The suspect, who neighbours have described as a 'loner', had only been at Carnarvon police station for a few hours when he was allegedly set upon by a prisoner. The prisoner's mother said her son 'blew up' and beat Kelly 'black and blue' when he discovered what he had been arrested for. She said: 'I tell you what, he got a real hiding...my son had to be taken out in shackles, and he (Kelly) was taken for treatment...he was in a bad way.' The suspect was pictured being taken to hospital with a bandage around his head in the early hours, after he was injured in his cell while in custody. Cleo was discovered by detectives at around 1am on Wednesday alone inside the bedroom of a rundown and locked house in Carnarvon - a rural town 47 miles from the campsite where she vanished on October 16, and just two miles from her family home. Incredible video footage later showed the moment that Cleo was found by officers in the home. Cleo is now safe and recovering in the company of her parents.

American treasures rescued from the trash: How author and his friend raided dumpsters for discarded prints in the 1970s - and then waited 50 years to publish them...
In the early 1970s, Michael Lesy was a graduate student with photography on his mind. His friend was a motorcycle delivery boy who ferried film from drugstores to be processed at a factory. 'What we used to do for a while… is raid the dumpsters,' Lesy told DailyMail.com. That 1971 summer in San Francisco, he amassed an archive. 'Every week, for four weeks during the summer, we took home whatever snapshots we found. They were in the trash because the machines that made them-duplicates, triplicates, quadruplicates-made them faster than the people on the line could stop them,' he wrote in his new book, Snapshots 1971-77, images are seen above. 'We guessed we took home seven thousand a week. I'd spend days looking through them. Some I kept; most I threw out.' Years later, Lesy was back in his hometown of Cleveland and another opportunity for snapshots cropped up. Through a friend, he met a drugstore owner who didn't know what to do with the pictures people did not pick up. Lesy waited 50 years to publish his found collection of snapshots. 'I always had it together. This book could have been made at any time,' he explained but added the legal risk before was high. 'Fifty years later, everything and nothing has changed,' he wrote.
